For those interested in more details, here is what my show consists of.
I am currently using four Falcon controllers.
Two of them are the F16v4 controllers. One of the v4’s is sporting the 16 port expansion board and the other has the Differential Expansion board for Smart receivers which I have several of.
My 3rd controller is an F16v3 Controller with an Expansion board which runs the mega tree.
My last controller is a newer F48V4 –NS. This controller has four local ports and 12 ethernet ports for long range smart receivers.
Lastly, I still have six ancient LOR (light-o-rama) units that run the incandescent lights via DMX.
I also purchased a used E682 San Device to use as a backup if needed.
n
Below are receivers that I have but are now retired.
I have two older Pixlite 4 controllers (I don’t believe they sell these now)
.
Next up are two very old NECG-DP2 by Joshua 1, which are the first
pixel controllers I owned
.
All of the controllers are controlled with a Raspberry Pi 3B running FPP (Falcon Pi Player). I use a Sound Blaster Play 3 External USB which attaches to the pi and runs to a Lepai LP-2020TI Amplifier. It is then split and sent to external speakers as well as a Mobile Black Box eclipse-4000 fm transmitter.
Each song is “sequenced” in xLights. This is a free open source program used to design and create the display. It can even run the show from your home computer or laptop in lieu of the Raspberry pi.
The lights are 2811 RGB pixels. I have purchased mine through Ray Wu in China, but there are now some local venders in the state that are resellers.
